Every cloud has a silver lining

I saw an old friend today. He was from my primary school. I remembered his name. (surprised? I don't forget everyone's names) He said that he was serving National Service(NS) and he has been posted to the Singapore Armed Forces Military Band Unit. We reminisced and talked about how our lives have progressed since we last met.
He told me that he would be studying in the National University of Singapore after his stint in NS. He had been successfully inducted into their pyschology course. This particular news of course left me depressed. Why?
I have been distraught since I received the results of my 'A' level results, which happened about two years ago. Although I had gained a full certificate, my grades were substandard and bordering on certain failure. I had of course expected to receive such grades due to the fact that I had an absolutely ghastly time learning maths in junior college. It was a miracle that I had even passed the above mentioned(eeek mathS) subject.
The point is that my friends have moved to greener pastures. My junior college mates and my other friends are getting degrees while I am getting a qualification on par with the 'A' levels. Honestly this setback hurts and I feel envious of their success.
Despite this I know that every cloud has a silver lining. I may have missed the opportunity to enroll in University. However I know that by gaining a place in Digital Media Design, I have the chance to bring to life my dreams of becoming an animation artist/ cartoonist. I was fearful before that I lacked the talent but now, under the extenuating circumstances, I have nothing to lose. And if I make it, I have everything to gain.
